Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 66 The Porter of the Monastery
Mass: Acts 3:1-10; Resp Ps 105; Lk 24:13-35

Rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord.

We can become despondent for a variety of reasons. We accept things the way they are and just keep on with the daily drudgery without making real effort to change. In today's first reading, we have a man crippled from birth. Every day he was carried and placed at the gate of the temple to beg for alms. Day in and day out. When the man saw Peter and John, he asked for alms as usual. Peter, with John, looked intently at the man and said, 'Look at us.' I wonder if others ever spoke to the man. Had he ever looked up at anyone? The man pays attention. His life is about to change. 'In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, rise and walk.' He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.

Pay attention today.

[Christ] is in you, He is with you and He never abandons you. However far you may wander, He is always there, the Risen One. He calls you and He waits for you to return to Him and start over again. When you feel you are growing old out of sorrow, resentment or fear, doubt or failure, He will always be there to restore your strength and your hope.
(Pope Francis, Christus Vivit Christ is Alive, 2)

WERE NOT OUR HEARTS BURNING WITHIN US WHILE HE SPOKE TO US ON THE WAY AND OPENED THE SCRIPTURES TO US?

Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen, pray for us.
