RB: Ch 63:10-19
The Celebration of the Passion of the Lord: Is 52:13-53:12; Resp Ps 31; Heb 4:14-16; 5:7-9; Jn 18:1-19:42
Those who have not heard shall ponder it.
BY HIS STRIPES WE WERE HEALED.
HE SHALL TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF MANY, AND WIN PARDON FOR THEIR OFFENSES.
For today's reflection, I share with you the text from the hymn we sung at Morning Prayer, No Path Upon the Sea, by S. Marie-Pierre Faure.
No path upon the sea. No fire to show the way. No victory or exodus. For this First-Born today.
No storm that is becalmed. No voice that winds obey. No water walk or other sign. For our Beloved today.
Disciples of the past, and friends along the way; Where are the twelve companions now, when he is judged today?
So many sick were healed, and blind men saw his face. Where are those resurrected ones, when he is killed today?
He changed water to wine; fed multitudes, they say. The good he did for one, for all; what witness speaks today?
His birth the shepherds told. No one recalls, who may? A savior son was born for them. Yet none adores today.
We should have been there too, to watch an hour and stay. Although we have abandoned him, our sins he takes today.
We all deny him still, save she who's full of grace. She shared his pain, she shares her love. She gives us him today.
Look at the open arms of Christ crucified, and let Him save you. Contemplate His blood shed out of love and let yourself be purified by it. In this way you can be reborn.
