Thursday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Saint Isidore of Seville, Bishop, Doctor (560Let-636)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 53:1015 The Reception of Guests
Mass: Ex 32:7-14; Resp Ps 106; Jn 5:31-47

Let the hearts that seek the Lord rejoice; turn to the Lord and his strength; constantly seek his face.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Cecile B. Demille's The Ten Commandments. I just watched the YouTube clip with the scene of the people and the golden calf. Drama. Commotion abounds. Aaron crying: 'We must have faith!' Moses yelling: 'Who is on the Lord's side come to me!' I see how stiff-necked this people is, says the Lord. Where are we in this scene? Lord, Our God, help us to put aside all the calves we make, all the molten images we adore, all the images of grass-eating bullocks we prefer over our glory. Help us to seek your praise alone, seek your face and listen to your word.

REMEMBER US, O LORD, AS YOU FAVOR YOUR PEOPLE.

Jesus prays for us, in this moment. And when I pray ... it is He who takes my prayer and presents it to the Lord. When we pray, let us recall that we do so with Jesus. Jesus is our courage. Jesus is our security, who in this moment intercedes for us.
(Pope Francis, homily, April 4, 2019)

SAINT ISIDORE, PRAY FOR US.
