Blessed be the Name of the Lord both now and forever.

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.
(1 Thess 5:17)

There may not be too many who don't know the phrase, "A family that prays together stays together." With a little searching, I found that most often the phrase is attributed to Fr Patrick Peyton (1909-1992), a Holy Cross priest who promoted family prayer and the rosary. It is said that Fr Peyton also popularized the phrase, "A World at Prayer is a World at Peace." A documentary about the priest is set for release this fall, Pray: The Story of Patrick Peyton. If it's you, dear Fr Peyton of happy memory, who popularized these phrases, thank you. From the little I've just read, you were a man of prayer and encouraged others to pray too. So important a message for us now, and for all times. Thank you, Fr Peyton, for your witness. As Jesus tells us: Amen, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For, where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Mt 18:19-20).

SAINT JANE FRANCES DE CHANTAL,
PRAY FOR US.
