Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 51 Those on a Short Journey
Mass: Is 55:1-3; Ps 145; Rm 8:35, 37-39; Mt 14:13-21

The hand of the Lord feeds us; He answers all our needs.

HEART OF JESUS, GENEROUS TO ALL WHO TURN TO YOU,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

"What will separate us from the love of God?" (Rm 8:35), asks St Paul. Nothing. No matter how much we turn away from Jesus, or far away we run from Him, Jesus waits for us with an all-encompassing, merciful, unconditional love. And if God is for us, who can be against us? (Rm 8:31). We take our anguish, our distress and grief, our afflictions, our toil to the Lord. Jesus' heart will be moved with pity; He will cure what ails us (Mt 14:14). Jesus knows what is best for each and every one of us. May we go to the Lord heedfully and listen, for it is the Lord who renews us and gives us life (Is 55:3). We join St Paul "convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rm 8:38-39), in whom we place our trust, our hope, our lives. Amen.

SAINT EUSEBIUS OF VERCELLI,
SAINT PETER JULIAN EYMARD,
SAINT PETER FABER,
PRAY FOR US.
