Monday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 52 The Oratory of the Monastery
Mass: Jer 28:1-17; Resp Ps 119; Mt 14:22-26

Lord, teach me your statutes.

HEART OF JESUS, AFLAME WITH LOVE FOR US,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

In today's Gospel, we find the disciples in a boat "being tossed about by waves, for the wind was against it" (Mt 14:24). Are you feeling tossed about by waves on this "welcome to Monday"? A prayer comes from Isaac of Stella, in his Sermon 14, 16. Dear Jesus, "bestir yourself, check the winds, and the sea, rescue me from the fears that daunt me, from the storm around me so that within me and without there be deep calm." Amen.
