The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.

HEART OF JESUS, IN WHOM THE FATHER WAS WELL PLEASED,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

When reflecting on today's Gospel passage, it seems wise to listen to Saint Peter and be attentive to the message of Peter, James, and John, who heard the voice of God on Mount Tabor: This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Their message is "altogether reliable" (2 Pt 1:19). May we be attentive, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts (2 Pt 1:19). Listen to  Him (Mt 17:5). Rise, and do not be afraid (Mt 17:7).

Let us keep our eyes fixed on the resplendent face of God, whom we contemplate in Christ transfigured on Mount Tabor. He is the light that illuminates the events of every day.

Today's photo: You have seen this one before, now fitting for today's feast. It comes courtesy of dear Kornelia in Germany. The photo was taken in Switzerland, the view from Kornelia's window at the Monastery of St Niklaus of Flue, long-time home of the Benedictine Sisters of Melchtal. It is of Widderfeld, Nunalphorn, and Huetstock, the so-called "Dreigestirn" in the Bernese Alps.
