Tuesday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Clare of Assisi (1193/4-1253)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 58:1-15 The Procedure for Receiving New Members
Mass: Ezk 2:8-3:4; Resp Ps 119; Mt 18:1-5, 10, 12-14

How sweet to my taste is your promise!

HEART OF JESUS, FULL OF GOODNESS AND LOVE,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

Today's photo and today's Gospel are complementary. Jesus tells us that unless we turn and become like children, we will not enter the kingdom of heaven (Mt 18:3). We are not to be childish, rather we are called to be child-like, that is among other things, being open to learning and growing, enjoying the simple things of life, full of energy, filled with a sense of awe and wonder, and enjoying and appreciating the company of those who love us, and those we love. Here we see Papaw Jim with grandson Briggs enjoying one another's presence in a peaceful setting. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me (Mt 18:4-5).

God does not choose us because of our "goodness", but precisely because we are and we feel small.
(Pope Francis, Twitter, August 11, 2020).

SAINT CLARE OF ASSISI,
PRAY FOR US.
