Lord, in your great love, answer me.

MARY, TOWER OF IVORY,
PRAY FOR US.

Today the people are so incensed with the prophet Jeremiah, they are ready to put him to death (Jer 26:11). The people and their leaders did not like to be told to reform their ways and deeds and listen to the voice of the Lord (Jer 26:13). I imagine they are not alone. So be it, says Jeremiah, "I am in your hands; do with me what you think good and right" (Jer 26:14). Our saint of the day Alphonsus Liguori offers this encouragement: "Good people have nothing to fear at the hour of their death. If God holds them in His loving hands, who will be able to snatch them from Him?" And, "Persecutions are to the works of God what the frosts of winter are to plants; far from destroying them, they help them to strike their roots deep in the soil and make them full of life." Our help is in the Name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

SAINT ALPHONSUS LIGUORI,
THE PROPHET JEREMIAH,
SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST,
PRAY FOR US.
