The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 61:1-5 The Reception of Visiting Monks
Mass: Rev 11:19a; 12:1-6a, 10ab; Resp Ps 45; 1 Cor 15:20-27; Lk 1:39-56

Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.

FROM AT THE MOMENT THE SOUND OF YOUR GREETING REACHED MY EARS,
THE INFANT IN MY WOMB LEAPED FOR JOY.
(Lk 1:44)

Today is the patronal feast of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance. Mary, Queen assumed into heaven, pray for us.

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;", said Mary, "my spirit rejoices in God my Savior ... the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is His Name" (Lk 1:46-47, 49). What are three great things the Lord has done for you? Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! (Ph 4:4)

If we forget the good, the heart shrinks. But if, like Mary, we remember the great things that the Lord does, if at least once a day we were to "magnify" Him, then our hearts will expand and our joy will increase.
(Pope Francis, Angelus Address, August 15, 2020)

MARY, CAUSE OF OUR JOY,
PRAY FOR US.
