MARY, QUEEN OF MARTYRS,
PRAY FOR US.

I was blessed this past week to spend a few days in Florida with a frail loved one. It was a grace-filled time on many levels. Along with the many kind, generous, and friendly people I met, I also witnessed some forms of "road rage" that were not so pleasant. It came in the forms of blaring car horns to drive faster, get out of the way, go through the green light even before it turned green so it seemed, and also yelling obscenities at others. We are a wounded people. As Pope Francis has said, the Church is "field hospital" to help heal the wounds that all of us carry and suffer with. During these days of Lent, we remember the words of the Lord: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust (Mt 5:44-45). United in prayer and the love of Christ Jesus then, we go forth on this First Saturday of the Month.

SAINTS PERPETUA AND FELICITY,
PRAY FOR US.
