Wednesday of the Twenty-Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

The Holy Guardian Angels

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:35-43
Mass: Ex 23:20-23 or Neh 2:1-8; Resp Ps 91 or 137; Mt 18:1-5, 10

The Lord has put angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways.

SEE THAT YOU DO NOT DESPISE ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES, FOR I SAY TO YOU THAT THEIR ANGELS IN HEAVEN ALWAYS LOOK UPON THE FACE OF MY HEAVENLY FATHER.

As we celebrate the Holy Guardian Angels, it seems a good day to pray with Responsorial Psalm 91 chosen for the celebration. And, as the Universalis Publishing source suggests: "Let us use this Feast to remind ourselves that each of us has an angel of our very own looking out for us; and also to pray to God for our own Guardian Angel. What a bore and a burden to them some of us are. May we one day be a cause of rejoicing for them also." 😉

The Lord has put angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways.
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,
and abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
For he will rescue you from the snare of the fowler,
from the destroying pestilence.
With his pinions he will cover you,
and under his wings you shall take refuge.
His faithfulness is a buckler and a shield.
You shall not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day;
Nor the pestilence that roams in the darkness,
nor the devastating plague at noon.
No evil shall befall you,
nor shall affliction come near your tent,
For to his angels he has given command about you,
that they guard you in all your ways.

HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS, PRAY FOR US.

May the memorial of our Holy Guardian Angels strengthen in us the certainty that we are not alone. May it sustain us in proclaiming and living Christ's Gospel for a world renewed in God's love.
