Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Easter

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:10-18
Mass: Acts 16:22-34; Resp Ps 138; Jn 16:5-11

I will send to you the Spirit of truth, says the Lord; he will guide you to all truth.

The Pope's tweet pointed me to today's reading from the Acts of the Apostles. The Holy Father tells us, "In our lives there are crosses, there are difficult moments. But in these difficult moments we feel that the Holy Spirit helps us to go forward and to overcome difficulties." This was proven true when we look at the rather difficult situation Paul and Silas found themselves in. The crowd in Philippi attack Paul and Silas, the magistrates have them stripped and beaten, then they are thrown into prison and guarded securely. So they think. While Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God as the prisoners listened, there was suddenly such a severe earthquake that the foundations of the jail shook; all the doors flew open, and the chains of all were pulled loose. Paul and Silas speak to the jailer and us: "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you and your household will be saved." We believe help our unbelief.

YOUR RIGHT HAND SAVES ME O LORD.
WHEN I CALLED, YOU ANSWERED ME;
YOU BUILT UP STRENGTH WITHIN ME.
