Sing joyfully to the Lord, all you lands; serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful song.

We hear another account of the busy lives of the disciples. Today we are introduced to Timothy who travels with Paul from city to city. Day after day, we are told, the churches grew stronger in faith and increased in number. We pray for the grace of courage and perseverance to proclaim the Good News to those we meet. Some will accept us, others will not. We carry on. The work of discipleship comes with suffering and persecution as Jesus states clearly in the Gospel: If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. During this Eastertide, we remember those received into the Church at the Easter Vigil. We are united in faith and in deepening our understanding of the Paschal Mystery. We go forth bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit come what may: Love, joy, peace. patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal 5:22-23).

Mary is a woman who walks with the grace and the tenderness of a mother; she unties all the knots of the many problems we manage to create, and she teaches us to stand upright in the midst of storms.
