Saturday of the Third Week of Easter

The Carthusian Martyrs (16th century)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:1-10 The Qualities of an Abbot or Abbess
Mass: Acts 9:31-42; Resp Ps 116; Jn 6:60-69

Your words, Lord, are spirit and life; you have the words of everlasting life.

'The Church was at peace … She was being built up and walked in the fear of the Lord, and with the consolation of the Holy Spirit she grew in numbers … many came to believe in the Lord.' On a related and current matter, I read in The Tablet: 'The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced that 37,000 catechumens and candidates were received into the Church at [this past] Easter Vigil' (27 April 2019, p. 20). Dear Lord, our hearts are restless until they rest in you. Let us pray for the peace that the world cannot give.

This is the time of mercy; this is the time of the Lord's compassion. Let us open our hearts so that He may come to us.

HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD,
ALL CARTHUSIAN MARTYRS,
PRAY FOR US.
