Thursday of the Fourth Week of Easter

Saint Simon Stock (c.1165-1265)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:33-40
Mass: Acts 13:13-25; Resp Ps 89; Jn 13:16-20

Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

After weeks of sun, blue sky, and warm spring weather, it is raining again, and not lightly. To help give our spirits a lift, I include a photo taken yesterday at Founders Grove along the Avenue of the Giants. As you can see, the redwood tree stands straight and tall, reaching to the heavens. So let us remember: If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory (Col. 3:1-3).

O God, when you went forth before your people, marching with them and living among them, the earth trembled, heavens poured down rain, alleluia.
(Entrance Antiphon, Mass)

"'The word of alive is alive' (Heb 4:12); it does not die or get old, but remains forever."
(Pope Francis, Twitter, May 16, 2019)

SAINT SIMON STOCK, PRAY FOR US.
