Monday of the Third Week of Easter

Readings of the Day
RB: Prologue 33-38
Mass: Acts 6:8-15; Resp Ps 119; Jn 6:22-29

What can we do to accomplish the works of God?

'Stephen, filled with grace and power, was working great signs among the people' ... his opposition 'could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.' Stephen's house was built on rock that St Benedict writes about in today's passage from the Holy Rule: Whoever hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house upon rock; the floods came and the winds blew and beat against the house, but it did not fall: it was founded on rock (Mt 7:24-25/RB Prol 33-34). 'All those who sat in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.'

THIS IS THE WORK OF GOD, THAT YOU BELIEVE IN THE ONE HE SENT.

NB. The rhubarb in today's photo is now delicious rhubarb jam. Loving God, bless the work of our hands!
