Mother's Day
Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:11-15
Mass: Acts 13:14, 43-52; Resp Ps 100; Rev 7:9, 14b-17; Jn 10:27-30
Sing joyfully to the Lord, all you lands; serve the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful song.
The risen Christ speaks: My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. May we be like the whole city in the reading from the Acts of the Apostles, who 'gathered to hear the word of the Lord.' With the Gentiles, may we 'glorify the word of the Lord', and with the disciples be 'filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.' The risen Christ is in our midst, Christus vivit! Christ is alive! 'Jesus Christ loves you; he gave his life to save you; and now he is standing at your side every day to enlighten, strengthen and free you' (The Joy of the Gospel, 164). No matter what comes our way, Jesus, the Good Shepherd, 'will wipe away every tear from our eyes.' With the Holy Father, 'on this World Day of Prayer for Vocations, let us join in prayer and ask the Lord to help us discover his plan of love for our lives, and to grant us the courage to walk in the path that, from the beginning, he has chosen for each of us' (Pope Francis, Twitter, May 12, 2019).
KNOW THAT THE LORD IS GOD;
HE MADE US, HIS WE ARE;
HIS PEOPLE, THE FLOCK HE TENDS.
At today's Regina Coeli address, the Holy Father greeted all mothers and thanked 'them for their precious work in raising children and protecting family values.' Pope Francis also remembered 'the mothers who look down on us from heaven and continue to watch over us with their prayers.'
