Wednesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions (-1885/7)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:44-48
Mass: 2 Tm 1:1-3, 6-12; Resp Ps 123; Mk 12:18-27

To you, O Lord, I lift up my eyes.

HEART OF JESUS, FULL OF GOODNESS AND LOVE,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

As we go about this Wednesday, or "hump day" as it is sometimes called, we call to mind and heart words from Jesus in today's Gospel: God is not God of the dead but of the living (Mk 12:27). This is the living and true God, full of goodness and love, who "did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control" (2 Tm 1:7). May we embrace this gift and call on the Name of the Lord for the strength to bear whatever hardships come our way (2 Tm 1:8).

SAINT CHARLES LWANGA AND COMPANIONS,
PRAY FOR US.
