Tuesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Lutgardis of Aywieres (1182-1246)
Saint Richard of Chichester (1197-1253)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 13:1-11 The Celebration of Lauds on Ordinary Days
Mass: 1 Kgs 21:17-29; Resp Ps 51; Mt 5:43-48

Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.

HEART OF JESUS, SOURCE OF JUSTICE AND LOVE,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

Jesus continues to call us to follow Him:

Love your enemies.
Pray for those who persecute you.
(Mt 5:44)

And here's "Saint Richard's Prayer", introduced to me years ago by a priest who has Saint Richard of Chichester as his patron. Sadly, I had forgotten about it until this morning when my dear brother Tom reminded me of it. Thanks bro. You may notice the last three lines as familiar from the 1970s hit musical, Godspell. Day by day, day by day, O, dear Lord, three things I pray ...

Thanks be to thee, O Lord Jesus Christ
for all the benefits which thou has given us,
for all the pains and insults which thou hast borne for us:
O merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother,
may we know thee more clearly,
love thee more dearly,
and follow thee more nearly.
Amen.
(Saint Richard's Prayer)

SAINT LUTGARDIS OF AYWIERES,
SAINT RICHARD OF CHICHESTER,
PRAY FOR US.
