Solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 18:12-19
Mass: Is 49:1-6; Resp Ps 139; Acts 13:22-26; Lk 1:57-66, 80

I praise you, Lord, for I am wonderfully made.

HEART OF JESUS, DESIRE OF THE ETERNAL HILLS,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

David, a man after God's own heart; someone who carried out God's every wish (Acts 13:22). John, the hand of the Lord was with him (Lk 1:66); he grew and became strong in spirit (Lk 1:80); John went before the Lord to prepare His way (Lk 1:17). May we grow in our love for the heart of God, be people of mercy, forgiveness and compassion, and carry out the Lord's will. Yes, the hand of the Lord is with us too, to strengthen and guide us in His ways. We are fearfully, wonderfully made. May we proclaim God's wonderful works in word and deed.

Through the tender mercy of our God, the Dawn from on high will visit us.
(Communion Antiphon, Mass)

SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST,
PRAY FOR US.
