The just will gaze on your face, O Lord.

MARY, QUEEN OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY,
PRAY FOR US.

In the Acts of the Apostles, we read that, just before Pentecost, the disciples gathered in the upper room where they were staying in Jerusalem (Acts 1:13). They "devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers" (Acts 1:14). Something to remember as we prepare to celebrate Pentecost is that "Mary strengthened the early Christian community in their courage by praying with them, as she strengthens us today" (Magnificat, May 30, 2020). We join Mary in prayer this day. We ask her to strengthen us and guide us to the heart of her beloved son Jesus. Each one of us, whether isolated by ourselves or in the midst of our families or communities are in need of prayer. Many people want to do something to help heal and mend our broken ways, personally and collectively. Here is one fitting response: "Don't just do something, stand there in prayer." O God, come to my assistance, O Lord, make haste to help me.

SAINT LUKE KIRBY,
THE YORKSHIRE MARTYRS,
SAINT JOAN OF ARC,
SAINT WALSTAN,
PRAY FOR US.
