Tuesday of the Second Week of Easter

Saint Anselm of Canterbury, bishop, doctor (1033-1109)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 64:7-22
Mass: Acts 4:32-37; Resp Ps 93; Jn 3:7b-15

The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty.

HEART OF JESUS, DESIRE OF THE EVERLASTING HILLS,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

In today's reading from the Acts of the Apostles, we hear that the early Christian community of believers was of one heart and one mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but had everything in common (Acts 4:32). Since I can't seem to get it out of my head, I share a thought: "This sounds like the good old days." As you discover if you keeping reading Acts (see Ch 5:1-11), dear Ananias and Sapphira enter the scene. Instead of pointing a finger at them, a question may be, "Is there any of Ananias and Sapphira in me?" Oh my. Living and true God, grant us great power to bear witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus so that great favor be accorded us all (Acts 4:33).

SAINT ANSELM OF CANTERBURY,
PRAY FOR US.

We pray with the Holy Father:

There's a lot of silence at this moment. May this silence, which is a bit new to what we are accustomed, teach us how to listen. Let us pray that we grow in our ability to listen.
