Thursday of the Second Week of Easter

Saint George, martyr (-c.303); Saint Adalbert of Prague (956-997)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 65:11-22
Mass: Acts 5:27-33; Resp Ps 34; Jn 3:31-36

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall be ever in my mouth.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN, BUT STILL BELIEVE.
ALLELUIA.

Today is the Holy Father's Name Day. Buon onomastico Jorge Mario Bergoglio Papa Francesco. May Saint George the Martyr intercede for you! Un abbraccio forte!

We gain inspiration today with the courage and boldness of the Apostles who "obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29). No matter what, Peter and the Apostles proclaim Christ crucified and risen from the dead. They are witnesses of these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him (Acts 5:32). The Spirit blows where it wills and so it is with everyone born of the Spirit (Jn 3:8). Keep going!

We pray with Pope Francis:

In many places, one of the effects of this pandemic is that many families find themselves in need, and they are hungry. Unfortunately unscrupulous money-lenders are profiting from this situation. This is another pandemic, another virus: it's a social pandemic. Many families who are not working and do not have food to put on the table for their children are prey to usurers who end up taking the little they have. Let us pray for these families, for their dignity, and let us pray also for the usurers: that the Lord might touch their hearts and convert them.

SAINT GEORGE,
SAINT ADALBERT OF PRAGUE,
PRAY FOR US.
