Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 67 Those Sent on a Journey
Mass: 1 Pt 5:5b-14; Resp Ps 89; Mk 16:15-20

For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

HEART OF JESUS, DELIGHT OF ALL THE SAINTS,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

A comforting place to begin are with words from St Peter: "Cast all your worries upon God because He cares for you" (1 Pt 5:7). Yes, God loves you and cares for you. Never forget.

Today's readings include the conclusion of both the First Letter of Peter and the Gospel according to Mark. Neither text in its entirety is too long, the former five chapters, the latter 16. Why not choose one, or take both over the next couple of days, and read each one from beginning to end. Since we celebrate St Mark today, why not start with the Gospel. Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature (Mk 16:15).

And since we began with words from St Peter, we end with more: "Peace to all of you who are in Christ" (1 Pt 5:14).

We pray with the Holy Father:

For those working in funeral services. What they do is something very painful and sad. They are touched closely by the pain of this pandemic.

SAINT MARK,
PRAY FOR US.
