Tuesday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:30-32
Mass: 1 Sm 9-20; Resp Ps (1 Sm 2); Mk 1:21-28

My heart exults in the Lord, my Savior.

WITH YOU, O LORD, IS THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE, AND IN YOUR LIGHT WE SEE LIGHT.
(Communion Antiphon, Mass)

I turn to Hannah who was "pouring out her troubles to the Lord" (1 Sm 1:15); whose prayer was "prompted by her deep sorrow and misery" (1 Sm 1:16). We take all our troubles, sorrows and worries to the Lord, and sing with Hannah: "The Lord puts to death and gives life … The Lord makes poor and makes rich, he humbles, he also exalts"! (1 Sm 2:6-7).

You have called your people to pray always:
may we grow in awareness that every thought, word, and deed lies open to you.
Receive our prayer, O Lord.
(Magnificat, Prayer for the Evening, Intercessions, January 14, 2020)
