MARY, COMFORTER OF THE AFFLICTED,
PRAY FOR US.

Welcome to February and the First Saturday of the Month. Saturdays can be busy days for families and others with errands to run, people younger and older to care for, various work to attend to. Whatever comes your way, think of Jesus' words to the wind and sea in today's Gospel: Quiet! Be still! (Mk 4:39). Some of the beauty is in how the wind and sea responded: "The wind ceased and there was great calm." May it be so with us.

It is risky to recommend books and films. Without making a recommendation, I had the privilege yesterday of watching a documentary directed by Wim Wenders entitled, Pope Francis: A Man of His Word (2018). What came to me during meditation early this morning was that the production is an examination of conscience on many levels. Thank you, Pope Francis. Thank you, Mr Wenders.

SAINT BRIGID OF IRELAND,
PRAY FOR US.
