Friday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Saints Cyril (827?-869), monk, and Methodius (826?-885), Bishop

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 12 The Celebration of Solemn Lauds
Mass: 1 Kgs 11:29-32; 12:19; Resp Ps 81; Mk 7:31-37

If only my people would hear me, and Israel walk in my ways.

We pray this in today's Gospel Acclamation: "Open our hearts, O Lord, to listen to the words of your Son." What words do we hear today? "Ephphatha!" (that is, "Be opened!") (Mk 7:34). May our hearts, eyes, and ears be opened to the healing touch of Jesus. "Jesus does all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak"! (Mk 7:37).

Today it would do us good to think-as an act of gratitude to God-about those who accompany us on our journey through life: family members, friends, colleagues … The Lord wants us to be together as people. Thank you, Lord, for never leaving us alone.

SAINTS CYRIL AND METHODIUS,
PRAY FOR US.
