Monday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

The Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Order (13th-14th century)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 14 The Celebration of Vigils on Feasts of Saints
Mass: Jam 1:1-11; Ps 119; Mk 8:11-13

Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.

AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, NO SIGN WILL BE GIVEN TO THIS GENERATION.
(Mk 8:12)

In today's Gospel, we once again find the Pharisees arguing with Jesus. The point of arguing remains a mystery. Except that is one reason for arguing, to prove "my" point. The Pharisees are relentless in testing Jesus, trying to trip him up, to snare him in a "We're right and you're are wrong" trap. It must have been exhausting for Jesus to put up with all this. Today anyway, Jesus "sighed from the depth of his spirit ... He left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore" (Mk 8:12-13). Do you ever feel like sighing and going off in the boat to the other shore? Heart of Jesus, loaded down with opprobrium, have mercy on us.

HOLY FOUNDERS OF THE SERVITE ORDER,
PRAY FOR US.
