Saturday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

6th International Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human Trafficking
Saint Josephine Bakhita (1869-1947); Saint Jerome Emiliani (1486-1537)
Blessed Virgin Mary

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:60-61
Mass: 1 Kgs 3:4-13; Resp Ps 119; Mk 6:30-34

With all my heart I seek you; let me not stray from your commands.

MARY, SEAT OF WISDOM,
PRAY FOR US.

Today we join Solomon and pray to the Lord God for an understanding heart … to distinguish between right and wrong (1 Kgs 3:9). May a wise and understanding heart guide us in thought, word, and deed on this day of prayer, reflection, and action against the scourge of human trafficking. May such a heart guide us in our manner of speech as we look to St Benedict and the eleventh degree of humility: We should speak gently and seriously with words that are unassuming but serious. We should be brief and reasonable in whatever we have to say and not raise our voices to insist on our own opinions (RB 7:60). As it is written: The wise are to be recognized in words that are few (RB 7:61/Si 20:7, Pr 8:6-8, Pr 17:27).

Let us ask for grace
and let us ask through Mary
because she has found what she sought
and she cannot be disappointed.
Let us ask for grace
but grace with God.
(Bernard of Clairvaux)

SAINT JOSEPHINE BAKHITA, SAINT JEROME EMILIANI,
PRAY FOR US.
