Wednesday of the Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time

The Most Holy Name of Mary

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:16-22
Mass: 1 Co 7:25-31; Resp Ps 45; Lk 6:20-26

Hail Mary, full of grace.

Mary's Magnificat provides fitting introduction to Jesus' Sermon on the Plain in today's Gospel.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness;
behold from now on will all ages call me blessed.

BLESSED ARE YOU WHO ARE POOR, FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS YOURS. BLESSED ARE YOU WHO ARE NOW HUNGRY, FOR YOU WILL BE SATISFIED. BLESSED ARE YOU WHO ARE NOW WEEPING, FOR YOU WILL LAUGH. BLESSED ARE YOU WHEN PEOPLE HATE YOU, AND WHEN THEY EXCLUDE AND INSULT YOU, AND DENOUNCE YOUR NAME AS EVIL ON ACCOUNT OF THE SON OF MAN.

Rejoice and leap for joy on that day!
Behold, your reward will be great in heaven.
For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.

Mary, Queen of prophets,
pray for us.
