RB: Ch 2:30-32
Mass: Nb 21:4-9; Resp Ps 78; Ph 2:6-11; Jn 3:13-17
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your Cross you have redeemed the world.
The line above, taken from today's Gospel Acclamation, holds a place in my heart and is etched in my memory. I remember it from the Fridays of Lent when I went to a local parish to pray the Stations of the Cross. I hope to never forget it. 'At the name of Jesus every knee should bend.'
A proud heart is hard, and if it is to be softened, God must crush, break up, the hardness of our hearts, but only so that 'the immense heart of God can find an opening' where the cross may be planted and raised up to heaven.
(Christian de Chergé)
May this oblation, O Lord,
which on the altar of the Cross
canceled the offense of the whole world,
cleanse us, we pray, of all our sins.
Through Christ our Lord.
(Prayer over the Offerings, Mass)
