Monday of the Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 2:1-10 Gifts Needed by an Abbess
Mass: 1 Co 5:1-8; Resp Ps 5; Lk 6:6-11

Stretch out your hand.

The word that comes to mind is 'immediacy'. Both in yesterday's Gospel and today's, Jesus speaks and action is taken. Yesterday: 'Be opened!', commands Jesus. 'Immediately the man's ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly.' Today: 'Stretch out your hand', commands Jesus. The man 'did so and his hand was restored.' Am I so immediate in my response to the Word? Do I act with such swiftness when Jesus speaks of healing and restoration?

GIVE ME LIFE ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD.
(Ps 119:25)
