Wednesday of the Thirty-Fourth or Last Week of Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 48:1-9 The Daily Manual Labor
Mass: Dn 5:1-6, 13-14, 16-17, 23-38; Resp Ps (Dn 3); Lk 21:12-19

Every shower and dew, bless the Lord; praise and exalt Him above all forever.

WHATEVER YOU DO IN WORD OR DEED, DO EVERYTHING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, GIVING THANKS TO GOD THE FATHER THROUGH HIM.
(Col 3:17)

Are you still counting your blessings? The list must be long. 🙂

Jesus' words in today's Gospel remind me to keep my eyes fixed on things that are above (Col 3:2).Whatever others say or do, whoever hands us over, whoever hates because of the Name of Jesus, no matter the trial or tribulation or narrow the gate (Mt 7:13-14), by your perseverance you will secure your lives (Lk 21:19).  We have jobs to do and here is one: "The first job of the Christian, it seems to me, is to grow in faith in God-in his power, in the conviction that we are all held in the hollow of his hand. He is our safeguard and defense. This faith we must pray for does away with fear, which paralyzes all effort-fear of losing a job, of hunger, of eviction, as well as fear of bodily violence and the blows of insult and contempt …" (Dorothy Day, The Reckless Way of Love: Notes on Following Jesus, quoted in Magnificat, November 2019, p. 371).

REMAIN FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH, AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE CROWN OF LIFE.
(Gospel Acclamation, Mass)

i thank you God for this most amazing day.
