Give me life, O Lord, and I will do your will.

I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, SAYS THE LORD; WHOEVER FOLLOWS ME WILL HAVE THE LIGHT OF LIFE
(Gospel Acclamation, Mass)

The blind man in today's Gospel says to Jesus, "Lord, please let me see" (Lk 18:41). He could have very well spoken with the words from the psalmist: Give me life, O Lord, and I will do your will." We are all blind in way or another. Jesus is approaching. In fact, He is already here at your side and at mine. With the blind man, let us ask the Lord to help us see so as to to follow in His footprints and do His will. Living and true God, increase our faith. Have sight; your faith has saved you (Lk 18:42). Let us go then and give glory and praise to God.

For disciples of Jesus it is enough, every day anew, to place their feet in the footprints of Jesus, to take up his cross and to follow him wherever he goes. 'Be confident,' Jesus also tells us, 'I have conquered the world.' And St John adds to this: 'And the weapon with which we conquer the world is no other than our faith (1 Jn 5:4).
