Wednesday of the Twenty-Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:1-4 Humility
Mass: Ezra 9:5-9; Resp Ps (Tb 13); Lk 9:1-6

Celebrate days of gladness, and give the Lord praise.

Today's responsorial psalm comes from the Book of Tobit, Ch 13. There you will find Tobit's joyful prayer, a hymn of praise. Two lines stand out, firstly, the one under today's photo of some of the glorious roses in our garden; secondly, this one: So now consider what God has done for you, and praise him with full voice. Perhaps each one of us might take a moment or two today and consider what God has done for us. It may help to write two or three things down on paper to use as reminders when a day is not going so well. One might also pray with Psalm 145.

I will give you glory, O God my King,
I will bless your name forever.
I will bless you day after day
and praise your name forever ...
The Lord is kind and full of compassion,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
How good is the Lord to all,
compassionate to all his creatures ...

MERCY CAME TO US FROM THE LORD, OUR GOD ...
THUS OUR GOD HAS BRIGHTENED OUR EYES AND GIVEN US RELIEF IN SERVITUDE.
(Ezra 9:8)

I can no other answer make but thanks,
and thanks,
and ever thanks.
(Sebastian in William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night)
