Friday of the Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time

Saint John Chrysostom (349-407)

Readings of the Day
RB: 2:23-39
Mass: 1 Tm 1:1-2, 12-14; Resp Ps 16; Lk 6:39-42

You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.

HEART OF JESUS, PROPITIATION FOR OUR OFFENSES,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

Jesus is pretty clear in today's Gospel: Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's or sister's eye. I turn to St Benedict and his chapter, "The Tools for Good Works", for insight: "Do not aspire to be called holy before you really are" (RB 4:62), so, "every day with tears and sighs confess your past sins to God in prayer and change from these evil ways in the future" (RB 4:57-58).

The grace of our Lord has been abundant, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
(1 Tim 1:14)

If they want to grow in His friendship, Jesus' disciples must not complain and look inward, They must act and commit themselves, certain that the Lord will support and accompany them.

SAINT JOHN CHRYSOSTOM, PRAY FOR US.
