Saturday of the Twenty-First Week in Ordinary Time

Blessed Virgin Mary

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 73 This Rule Only a Beginning of Perfection
Mass; 1 Th 4:9-11; Resp Ps 98; Mt 25:14-30
Let the sea and what fills it resound, the world and those who dwell in it.

First, using St Paul's words to the Thessalonians, here is a prayer for this last Saturday of the month: May we grow in our love for one another as we aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind our own affairs, and to work with our hands. Amen.

Second, today concludes the second reading of the Holy Rule of St Benedict this year. In Ch 73, St Benedict asks three questions, The first two you can ponder: "What page, what passage of the inspired books of the Old and New Testaments is not the truest guides for human life?" "What book of the holy catholic Fathers does not resoundingly summon us along the true way to reach the Creator?"
The last question, "Are you hastening toward your heavenly home?" Stand up with me if your answer is "Yes!". Next we are given a couple of reminders: "Then with Christ's help, keep this little rule that we have written for beginners." It's all grace and we all begin anew each day. Thanks be to God.

MOTHER OF DIVINE GRACE, PRAY FOR US.
