Monday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time

Blessed Guerric of Igny, Cistercian abbot (1070-1157)
Saint John Eudes (1601-1680)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 63:10-19
Mass Judges 2:11-19; Resp Ps 106; Mt 19:16-22

Remember us, O Lord, as you favor your people.

Jesus' words to the young man were not what the young fellow expected: "If you with to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." The young fellow went away sad. Perhaps the words of Guerric of Igny provide support and encouragement, for the young man, for us:

Indeed, I am poor and needy, but if the Lord takes thought for me I am rich and blessed. Therefore, let those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not forsake them.

HEART OF JESUS, RICH TO ALL WHO CALL UPON YOU,
PRAY FOR US.

At the beginning of this new week, strengthen us to persevere in the path of the Gospel.
(Magnificat, Prayer for the Evening, August 18, 2019)

BLESSED GUERRIC OF IGNY, SAINT JOHN EUDES,
PRAY FOR US.
