Saturday of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Maria Goretti (1890-1902); Blessed Virgin Mary; First Saturday of the Month

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 29 Readmission of Those Who Leave the Monastery
Mass: Gn 27:1-5, 15-29; Resp Ps 135; Mt 9:14-17

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, which we love.

On this First Saturday of the Month, I include the proclamation we used at Lauds, from Thomas Merton, "Hagia Sophia".

She is life as communion, life as thanksgiving,
life as praise, life as festival, life as glory …
Sophia is the mercy of God in us.
She is the tenderness with which the infinitely mysterious
power of pardon turns the darkness of our sins
into the light of grace.

MARY, SEAT OF WISDOM, SAINT MARIA GORETTI,
PRAY FOR US.

Today's photo: A sister and I marvelled at this red crocosmia (member of the iris family, iridaceae). Another sister provided the name. May God be praised.
