Saturday after Ash Wednesday

Saint Frances of Rome (1384-1440)

Readings of the Day
RB: 31:13-19
Mass: Is 58:9b-14; Resp Ps 86; Lk 5:27-32

Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

Today's is one my favorite Gospel passages. It's Levi's response to Jesus' call to Follow me. There was no questioning from Levi, he simply left everything, got up, and followed the Lord. Then Levi throws a big party! May we be so focused and determined when answering the Lord's call.

Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do. I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.

Almighty ever-living God,
look with compassion on our weakness
and ensure us your protection
by stretching forth the right hand of your majesty.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity
of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
(Collect, Mass)

SAINT FRANCES OF ROME, PRAY FOR US.
