Friday of the Twenty-First Week of Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 73 This Rule Only a Beginning of Perfection
Mass: 1 Co 1:17-25; Resp Ps 33; Mt 25:1-13

The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. (1 Co 1:25)

The passage from St Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians is one my favorites. With it, we read from the last chapter of the Holy Rule completing our reading of the Rule for the second time this year. In Ch 73, St Benedict writes: 'With Christ's help, keep this little rule we have written for beginners.' Every day is a new beginning; a time to start afresh and rekindle our pilgrim's journey to God while praying, 'your will, O Lord, not mine, be done.'

The designs of His heart are from age to age, to rescue their souls from death and to keep them alive in famine.
(Entrance Antiphon, Mass)

Thus says the Lord: Let whoever is thirsty come to me and drink. Streams of living water will flow from within the one who believes in me.
(Communion Antiphon, Mass)
