Monday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Saint Maria Goretti, virgin, martyr (1890-1902)

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 29 Readmission of Those Who Leave the Monastery
Mass: Hos 2:16, 17c-18, 21-22; Resp Ps 145; Mt 9:18-26

The Lord is good to all and compassionate toward all his works.

If you don't know the story of Maria Goretti, you may be interested in reading it. Something to keep in mind is this: "Even if [Maria's] standards are not ours, we must still have standards of some kind; and if we are faced with a threat to them, we must defend ourselves with the same passion that she showed. To behave otherwise, to tell ourselves 'well, it doesn't matter really', is to commit slow moral suicide" (Universalis, "About Today", July 6, 2020). And Maria Goretti defended herself at the age of 11! May she intercede for us.

COURAGE, DAUGHTER! YOUR FAITH HAS SAVED YOU.
(Mt 9:22)

SAINT MARIA GORETTI,
PRAY FOR US.

Today's photo: Our Father in heaven has revealed these things to the little ones. Thank you Mr. Briggs.
