Human Rights Day
Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 57 The Artisans of the Monastery
Mass: Is 40:1-11; Resp Ps 96; Mt 18:12-14
Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice … Then let all the trees of the forest rejoice.
While reflecting on what to write this morning, I received word that six people I know are suffering, one after having a serious stroke, the others with gradual health decline. It seems that one of the best ways we can "prepare the way of the Lord!" (Is 40:3) is to pray for one another. One could also send a note or card to those who are suffering in one way or the other. We turn again to our first reading for Mass:
Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God (Is 40:1). Our Lord will feed us, gather us in His arms, carry us in His bosom, and lead us with care (Is 40:11).
BEHOLD, THE LORD WILL COME, AND ALL HIS HOLY ONES WITH HIM; AND ON THAT DAY THERE WILL BE A GREAT LIGHT.
