Thursday of the First Week of Advent

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 53:16-24
Mass: Is 26:1-6; Resp Ps 118; Mt 7:21, 24-27

This gate is the Lord's; the just shall enter it.

TRUST IN THE LORD FOREVER! FOR THE LORD IS AN ETERNAL ROCK.

A simple question for today might be: Upon whose rock am I standing? "The storms that threaten are not those that blow from mountain or sea but those that blow from human doubts, human fears, human violence, whether from within or from without. Even as we await the coming of Christ in fullness, we put our trust in the present help found his Word as we read, study and pray it" (Magnificat, Prayer for the Evening, December 5, 2019). We march on then, with Jesus' words in our hearts and on our minds. Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock (Mt 7:24). May we be so wise.

We cannot build our lives on passing things, on appearances, on acting like everything is going fine. We go to the rock, where our salvation awaits. And there we will all-each one of us-be happy.
(Pope Francis, homily, December 5, 2019)

THERE IS NO HOLY ONE LIKE THE LORD; THERE IS NO ROCK LIKE OUR GOD.
(1 Sm 2:2)

MAY THE LORD, OUR ROCK AND OUR FORTRESS,
PROTECT US FROM ALL DISTRESS.
AMEN.
(see 2 Sm 22:2).
