Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.

HEART OF JESUS, FORMED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE WOMB OF THE VIRGIN MOTHER,
HAVE MERCY ON US.

As we prepare to celebrate the Christmas feasts, our focus shifts. Through the celebration of the liturgy, we look in a more direct way to the Nativity of the Lord. In today's Gospel, we proclaim the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ. I find it helpful to read the passage aloud, taking time to enjoy pronouncing the names. At Vespers, we begin celebrating the "O" Antiphons. There is tremendous richness for meditation in these great antiphons. Beginning today, and continuing every day for seven days, we hear a different name for Jesus from the Old Testament and each time we address Jesus by this title, saying, "Come, O Come". The antiphon becomes a prayer for the day: O Wisdom, coming forth from the mouth of the Most High, reaching from end to end, mightily and sweetly ordering all things: come and teach us the way of prudence ("O" Antiphon, December 17).

BEHOLD, THE DESIRED OF ALL NATIONS WILL COME, AND THE HOUSE OF THE LORD WILL BE FILLED WITH GLORY.
(Communion Antiphon, Mass)
