CHRIST OUR KING IS COMING, HE IS THE LAMB FORETOLD BY JOHN.
(Entrance Antiphon, Mass)
In today's General Audience, the Holy Father reminded those gathered, "Christmas is a week away." He followed with a question: "How am I preparing to celebrate the birth of the Lord?" A good question to ponder. In addition to accepting the Pontiff's invitation to make a crib in our homes, we look to today's Gospel to learn just "how the birth of Jesus Christ came about." Dear Joseph, wise man of trust, courage, discretion, and care, help us as we prepare to celebrate the birth of the Lord. We pray with today's "O" Antiphon: O Adonai and Leader of the house of Israel, who appeared to Moses in the flames of the burning bush and gave him the law on Sinai: come and redeem us with outstretched arm ("O" Antiphon, December 18).
BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL NAME HIM EMMANUEL, WHICH MEANS "GOD IS WITH US."
