Saints Cyril, monk, and Methodius, bishop (9th century)

Thursday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time
Happy Valentine's Day

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 12 The Celebration of Solemn Lauds
Mass: Gn 2:18-25; Resp Ps 128; Mk 7:24-30

Humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls.

The woman, Greek and Syrophoenician by birth, a Gentile, recognized and acknowledged the healing power of Jesus. Nothing was going to stop her. She fell at the Lord's feet and begged Him to drive the demon out of her daughter. The woman went home, she found the child lying in bed and the demon gone. Dear woman of faith and courage, intercede for us.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO FEAR THE LORD, WHO WALK IN HIS WAYS!
(Resp Ps 128)

Those who love use their imagination to discover solutions where others see only problems. Those who love help others according to their needs and with creativity, not according to preconceived ideas of common conceptions.
(Pope Francis, Twitter, February 14, 2019)

O God, who enlightened the Slavic peoples
through the brothers Saints Cyril and Methodius,
grant that our hearts may grasp the words
of your teaching,
and perfect us as a people of one accord
in true faith and right confession.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son
who lives and reigns with you in the unity
of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
(Collect, Mass)

SAINTS CYRIL AND METHODIUS,
SAINT VALENTINE,
PRAY FOR US.
