World Day of the Sick
Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 9 The Number of Psalms at the Night Office
Mass: Gn 1:1-19; Resp Ps 104; Mk 6:53-56
God called the dome 'the sky'.
In the beginning, God was busy creating the heavens and the earth. God created 'day' and 'night' and the dome He called 'the sky'. God created vegetation of every kind of plant and fruit tree. God created the stars, moon, and sun. God saw that it was very good. Tomorrow we will hear that 'God created man in his image, in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them.' We are the ones begging to touch only the tassel on the Lord's cloak. As many as touched it were healed.
Lord, you care for all the earth. Yet your care for us, whom you made in your image, is far greater than your care for land or sea, beast or bird. If it be your will, heal our ills of body, mind, and spirit, so that with the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints, we may sing your praise for ever, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Magnficat, Prayer for the Morning, February 11, 2019)
A generous attitude towards the sick is the salt of the earth and light of the world. May Our Lady of Lourdes help us to practice it, and obtain peace and comfort for all those who suffer.
