Blessed Virgin Mary

Saturday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of the Day
RB: Ch 7:62-70
Mass: Heb 13:15-17, 20-21; Resp Ps 23; Mk 6:30-34

Through Jesus, let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise.

As I recall, Saturdays are often busy for working people, those who work long hours Monday through Friday. It can be a work day of another kind. There are many things to do that a working person has neither the time nor energy to do during the work week. To name a few things on peoples' lists: shopping, running errands, taking children to athletic events, yard work, cleaning, and cooking. What Jesus told the busy Apostles after they returned from a period of travel, preaching, driving out demons, anointing the sick and curing them, was, 'Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' The Word speaks to all of us.

May the God of peace carry out in you what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Love of God and love of neighbour are inseparable. They are two sides of the same coin: lived together they are the true strength of believers.

O BLESSED MOTHER OF GOD
OPEN TO US THE GATE OF MERCY:
YOU ARE THE SALVATION OF THE HUMAN RACE.
